On the 7th June 2016, Michel Caniaux, ALTRO's Delegate General, will go to Madrid to present the Via Atlantica within the scope of the annual conference devoted to railway development on the Iberian Peninsula. This will be a chance to Europeanise the process a little more before an audience of economic players and people from the world of transport who will need to be convinced to join ALTRO.
On the 7th June in Madrid, the Delegate General presented the Via Atlantica within the scope of the annual event organised by Iberian Rail Development, to 150 economic players, infrastructure managers and Iberian operators. After listening carefully, proposals were made to initially consolidate the lines Santander-Bilbao/Vitoria-Bordeaux-Limoges-Lyon-Turin-Milan and Santander-Bilbao/Vitoria-Bordeaux-Nantes-Rennes/Brest. This was also a chance for the Delegate General to reinforce his Iberian network forming a new contact with the port of Leixoes (Porto).
At last an opportunity to catch up with news regarding the Iberian Peninsula, particularly the announcement made by ADIF, Spanish infrastructure management, to pursue the construction of a single high-speed line to save costs ranging from 9.4 million euros/km to 24.8 million/km depending on the line.
